BRIEF HISTORY OF HOMEOPATHY IN MALAYSIA
Brief History of my College The Faculty of Homeopathy Malaysia , Kg Gelang Mas, Pasir Mas, Kelantan.
Homeopathy is a system of medicine founded by Dr Samuel Hahnemann from Germnay in 1810. In Malaysia Dr Burhanuddin Al-Helmy was the first Malays to bring homeopathy to Malaya in 1940's but it was noe much known until in 1975 when Dr Nik Omar of Kelantan came back to Malaysia, develop and spread homeopathy to most of the Malaysian,
In 1977 he started his first ever modern clinic at Kota Bharu, Kelantan. In 1979 he started the first homeopathic collehe in malaysia by the name of The Faculty of Homeopathy Malaysia. In 1984 he started The Registered Homeopathic Medical Practitioners associaton (MRHP).
In 1977 he stood alone in Malaysia speaking about homeopathy. In 1979 he open the first batch of 7 students and in 2000 there are more than 3,000 students graduated from this college.
In 2002 we can see the tremendous effort done by Prof Dr Sir Nik Omar and his collegue at The Faculty of Homeopathy Malaysia, where a huge homeopathic complex with the cost of $ 3.5 millions on the 8 acres of land will be official launch at New campus in Pasir Mas, Kelantan, Malaysia.
This is another proof our the contribution done by members of the Faculty's to upgrade homeopathy in Malaysia.
According to Alison Nadel British Journalist,
" Dr Nik Omar has training in both conventional and homeopathic medicine. he stidied both subjects for five years in Punjab, pakistan before going to Britain to train at London School of Chiropody, University College London.
Homeopathy has always been his primary interest. In 1977 he returned to Malaysia and open the first modern homeopathic clinic.
Dr Nik Omar has written hundred of srticles about his work. He is an active member of the International homeopathic community. In 1979 he set up his own version of French medical volunteer force Medicines Sans Frontiers. He called his, Homeopathic Doctors Withour barrier.
All recognise that he, more than anyone, is responsible for raising the homeopathic medicine profile in Malaysia"
